Intent
At South Green we encourage all pupils to read widely across both fiction and non-fiction to develop their knowledge of themselves and the world in which they live, to establish an appreciation and love of reading, to gain knowledge across the curriculum and develop their comprehension skills.

Reading Webinar
A reading webinar was created to help support parents in reading with their child, it discusses the reading expectations in the National Curriculum but also discusses the expectations at South Green Juniors and how reading is taught in school. Finally it offers plenty of suggestions to help support your child with their reading at home. Recommended Reading
Please click the buttons below to view recommended reading lists for years 3 & 4 and years 5 & 6. These are just an idea of the books you could introduce your child/children to in order to broaden the range of texts they are accessing. It will help to increase their vocabulary and expose them to different writing structures, which will also help to support their literacy skills.
